UPDATE: The CMPD has identified the person who was killed in a wreck on Austin Circle, in northeast Charlotte.
The deceased passenger has been identified as 23-year-oldΒ Curtis E. Saunders.
The case is still being investigated.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — At least one has been killed in a crash that occurred in northeast Charlotte early Friday morning.
Upon arrival, officers located a 2013 Dodge Challenger on its roof.Β MEDIC arrived and pronounced the front passenger deceased on scene. The driver, Benjamin James Graves, was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
Officers determined that the vehicle was traveling east on Austin Circle at a high rate of speed when the Dodge Challenger, driven by Benjamin James Graves, lost control and drove off the left side of the roadway.
The vehicle initially struck a fence and a tree.
After impact, the vehicle rotated into a telephone pole coming to rest on its roof on Austin Drive.
