Driver Charged In Multi-Vehicle Accident That Shutdown Part Of I-77 North Wednesday Morning

UPDATE: I-77 North has been reopened and a driver has been charged following a multi-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning.

According to officials, the driver of a red pickup truck involved in the accident has been charged with careless and wreckless driving and unsafe movement. That person’s name has not yet been released.

The accident happened around 7am on I-77 North near Cindy Lane Bridge. Two pickup trucks and a tractor-trailer were involved.

Medic says one person was transported with serious injuries. Two other people were also transported with injuries.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — I-77 North has been prior to exit 13, according to Charlotte Fire Department, due to a motor vehicle accident.

Charlotte Fire Department also stated that there is a victim trapped inside one of the vehicles.

This section of I-77 is expected to be closed until 2 p.m.
