Suspect With Ankle Monitor Charged With Multiple Vehicle Break-Ins And Thefts

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police say a teen with an ankle monitor is responsible for stealing one vehicle, breaking into several others, and stealing multiple items.

Brandon McMillon, 17, was arrested and charged after police used his ankle monitor to determine he was present at several crimes Tuesday morning.

A 2007 Toyota Sienna van was reported stolen around 5:20am Tuesday from a home on Bonlyn Drive. A short time later, police say they were called to an apartment complex on E. WT Harris Drive where a woman’s vehicle was broken into and several items were stolen.

Around 6:45am, CMPD then responded to Snow Lane where five vehicles had been broken into and items had been taken. While there, police say they also found the stolen van but no suspect.

Surveillance found at nearby gas station showed McMillon stealing several items from the store and getting into the stolen van, according to reports.

Police tracked McMillon’s location after determining he was the suspect, and arrested him around 6:45pm.

McMillon is charged with six counts of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, three counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest.

Investigators say they’re working to determine whether McMillon was involved in any other cases.
