Teen Shooting Victim Dies, Suspect Charged With Murder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have charged the man they say shot and killed a 17-year-old in southeast Charlotte Monday night.

Steven Black, 20, was arrested Wednesday morning and was originally charged with Attempted Murder.  However, the victim, 17-year-old Dionte’ Hunter died from the injuries he sustained in the shooting on July 26th.

Black has now been charged with murder.

Police say the shooting happened around 11:15pm Monday on Glendora Drive at Monroe Road.  Hunter was found inside his car and transported to CMC with life threatening injuries. On Wednesday Morning, CMPD reported that Hunter had passed away due to his injuries.

Officials say the teen was riding with a female passenger in the car to meet someone on McMullen Way when he was shot. He then drove a short distance down Monroe Road before stopping for help.
