Additional Charges Filed On Two Suspects Charged In Multiple Armed Robberies Targeting Hispanics
UPDATE: Police say two of the four suspects are facing additional charges after a victim came forward with new allegations following Thursday’s news briefing.
The victim says that Pedro Chinchilla and Joshua Salvado-Jil robbed him July 13th on Old Pineville Road, but says he didn’t file a report out of fear for his safety.
The two suspects now face additional charges of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
CMPD says they’re continuing to investigate multiple other armed robberies that may be connected, and additional charges may be filed.

UPDATE: The CMPD has arrested and charged the four teens wanted for their involvement in a violent series of armed robberies targeting Hispanics.
Pedro Antonio Rivera-Chinchilla,18, has been charged with four counts of Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Attempted Murder and Attempted Armed Robbery.
A 15-year-old juvenile has been charged with Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
Jose Salmeron,19, has been charged with two counts of Armed Robbery and two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
Joshua Omar Salvado-Jil, 19, has been charged with three counts of Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
On Thursday, July 27th, police observed a vehicle matching the description given following the armed robberies earlier in July and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers observed marijuana in the vehicle with three subjects, who were arrested and taken to CMPD headquarters for an interview.
During the interview, the 15-year-old male was identified as the fourth suspect. He was located and arrested without incident.
The case is ongoing and authorities are investigating whether the suspects are connected to any other cases.

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD needs help identifying four Hispanic males believed to be responsible for at least seven armed robberies Sunday morning.
According to reports, one suspect is described as a heavy set Hispanic male, about 24 or 25-years-old, 5’6″, short curly hair, wearing a black bandana over his face, a sleeveless white shirt with black stripes, and black shorts.
A second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about 24 or 25-years-old, 5’11”, 150-170 pounds, and wearing a black bandana over his face.
The robberies happened between 4:45am and 11:40am Sunday. In each instance, investigators say the two suspects approached victims armed with a handgun and knife and demanded property. They then either took off on foot or escaped in a vehicle driven by one of the two additional suspects.
According to a release by CMPD, the robberies occurred as follows:
- On Sunday, July 16, 2017, at 4:46 a.m., two suspects approached the victims while they were standing outside their apartments in the 1400 block of Kentland Lane (Westover Division). The suspects pulled out a firearm and took the victims property before fleeing the scene. (CMPD report number 20170716-0446-01)
- At 6:53 a.m., the victim walked out to his vehicle in the 600 block of Archdale Drive (Steele Creek Division), when two suspects approached him while a third suspect waited in the vehicle. The two suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and took property. (CMPD report number 20170716-0653-00)
- At 8:32 a.m., the victims were loading their vehicle in the 6600 block of Montcrest Drive (Steele Creek Division), when two suspects approached them while a third waited nearby. The suspects pointed a handgun at the victims and took their property before fleeing on foot. (CMPD report number 20170716-0832-01)
- At 8:56 a.m., the victim was at his vehicle in the 2400 block of Dunlavin Way (Eastway Division), when two suspects approached him on foot. The victim stated that one of the suspects brandished a handgun and pointed it at him while demanding his wallet. The second suspect grabbed property from his person and swung a knife at the victim cutting his finger. The victim stated the suspects got into a vehicle and fled the scene. - At 9:22 a.m., the victim was near his vehicle in the 5700 block of Airport Drive (Freedom Division), when three suspects approached him. The victim stated that the suspects brandished a handgun and demanding money. The victim stated the suspects got into a vehicle and fled the scene. (CMPD report number 20170716-0922-00)
- At 11:06 a.m., the victim stated that he was on the phone sitting in his vehicle in the 1000 block of Falls Creek Lane (Westover Division), when three suspects approached him. The suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money. The victim stated the suspects got into a vehicle driven by a fourth suspect and fled the scene. (CMPD report number 20170716-1106-00)
- At 11:38 a.m., the victims stated that they were outside their apartment in the 3400 block of Weston Street (Westover Division), when four suspects approached them.
