CHARLOTTE, NC — On Tuesday, August 1st, law enforcement agencies all across the country will be hosting National Night Out events in local communities to help increase public safety and awareness.
The events are opportunities for residents to come out and mingle with neighbors, meet their local law enforcement, and get ideas on how to keep communities safe. Many of the events will feature public safety demonstrations, free food, and fun activities for the entire family.
CMPD is asking residents to leave their porch lights on from 7-10pm Tuesday in support of NNO. Chief Putney will be going around to different NNO events happening throughout the city.
The City of Charlotte says the Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance and community mentoring agencies will also be visiting the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition, Double Oaks, Hidden Valley and Grier Heights neighborhood associations for NNO celebrations.
Mecklenburg County DA Andrew Murray will be stopping by the following events taking place throughout the county Tuesday to answer questions and talk with residents:
- 5-5:50 pm: Hidden Valley, 919 Tom Hunter Rd., Charlotte
- 6-6:45 pm: Plaza-Shamrock, New Covenant ARP Church, 2541 Elkwood Circle, Charlotte (In the event of rain, they’ll move into one of the church buildings.)
