Nearly 150 CMPD Ford Explorers Are Part Of A Nationwide Carbon Monoxide Leak Investigation
CHARLOTTE, NC — Nearly 150 of CMPD’s Ford Explorers are part of a nationwide investigation into carbon monoxide leaks.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Commission says exhaust fumes may be getting inside the Explorers through the air conditioning. The federal investigation involves more than 1.3 million 2011 to 2017 Explorers, including the Police Interceptor.
14 of the department’s Explorers have been sent back to Ford, according to CMPD, and CO detectors have been installed on the rest.
