CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two deadly crashes occurred in Charlotte overnight on both Providence Road and Mallard Creek Road.

Drinking and speeding are to be blamed for the first crash, occurring in South Charlotte.

Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle, over corrected, and crossed the median, hitting a utility pole on Providence Road at Sharon Amity.

Investigators say the driver was not wearing a seat belt and did not have a photo ID.
