Salisbury PD Issues Warning As Opioid Epidemic Sweeps Nation

SALISBURY, NC — Salisbury police say they have seen a massive increase in overdoses and deaths as an opioid epidemic sweeps the nation.

From January to July of this year there have been 53 overdoses. Last year there were only 28. In that same time frame police have also seized more than three ounces of heroin.

The Rowan County Sheriff says that users are desperate to get their hands on the deadly drug.

Rowan County Medical Health Center says it has been difficult to keep up with resources needed for people with addictive problems.
