CONCORD, N.C. — An evacuation order has been lifted after an overturned tanker full of ethanol forced residents living within half a mile from the accident scene to leave their homes Tuesday.
Officials say the offloading of the spilled ethanol has been completed, but traffic will continue to be impacted on Highway 49 as crews continue work on removing the tanker itself. Residents can return to their homes at this time.
The tanker wrecked on Highway 49 at Lentz Harness Shop Road in Cabarrus County. The tanker was carrying 8,000 gallons of ethanol.
