Citizen’s Review Board Will Hear More Evidence on Scott Case

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte’s Citizens Review Board will hear more evidence in the case of Keith Scott.

Attorneys on both sides of the case presented witnesses and evidence.

The board will decide if CMPD was wrong to clear officer Brentley Vinson after he shot and killed Scott last September.

Scott’s death sparked protests and violent riots around the city.

While attorneys have agreed not to talk about what is said in the review board hearing, some argue that’s not the right move

“You wonder whether it was really best for the community that this was a matter that was conducted in this much secrecy”, stated attorney Tony Scheer, “Does it really advance the greater understanding of people in Charlotte of what happened out there that day? Does it heal things at all?”

If the board decides the Scott shooting isn’t justified, the case will go to the city manager and police Chief Kerr Putney for re-evaluation.
