CMPD Search For Midnight Diner Shooting Suspect

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a shooting at the Midnight Diner around 5:30am on Sunday, July 31.

The suspect is described as a skinny black male with a goatee and short dreads and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt. He fled the scene in a black, 4-door sedan with bright headlights and a left front tire that appears to be a spare tire or missing a hub cap. Both the suspect and suspect vehicle are pictured above.

The male shooting victim had visited the Midnight Diner and got into an altercation with the suspect in the diners rear parking lot. When the victim ran away, the suspect pulled a handgun and shot the victim multiple times. The victim ran back into the diner for help and was then taken to hospital by another visitor at the diner. The victim’s wounds were non-life threatening. Police believe the victim and suspect didn’t know each other.

Anyone with information about this incident, the suspect or the suspect vehicle is asked to contact Detective G. T. Willis with CMPD Central Division Investigations at 704-336-5727 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
