Six York County Sheriff Deputies disciplined for sex on duty

YORK CO., SC– The York County Sheriff’s Office says an anonymous tip started the entire investigation where five male deputies admitted to having sex with one woman, Sargeant Jennifer Forsythe while on duty. Some of those sexual encounters happened at the Moss Justice Center from 2003 to 2017.

York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson released a statement saying: “The results of this investigation are very troubling and cast a dark cloud over the York County Sheriff’s Office and its reputation as a professional organization.”

Sergeant Jennifer Forsythe and Deputy Daniel Hamrick were fired. Two more sergeants were suspended without pay. One Lieutenant was demoted and one Captain was suspended two weeks without pay. Sheriff Tolson says he showed leniency to those who were involved years ago before he was sheriff saying: “The harshest discipline was dispensed to those who violated policy and public trust while I have been sheriff.”

The earliest sexual encounters date back to 2003 when then Detective and Sergeant Carson Neely admits to sex on duty with Forsythe. Documents also reveal sexual encounters with Buddy Brown dating back to 2010 and 2011. The most recent in 2017 with Deputy Daniel Hamrick who was also fired.
