CMPD Have Charged One After Homicide in West Charlotte Shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police say a man was found dead after a shooting in West Charlotte Thursday.

The shooting happened shortly before 7:30pm on Pleasant Dale Drive at Wilson Glen Drive. Officials say the victim, Jamario Lacatria McNeely, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives with the CMPD’s Homicide Unit have charged George Fernandez, with the murder of Mr. McNeely.

Information and evidence gathered by Homicide Detectives during the course of the investigation led them in identifying Fernandez as the suspect in this case.  Mr. Fernandez remained on scene and agreed to speak with Homicide Detectives at police headquarters.  Following the interview, Fernandez was arrested and charged with Murder and transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.

This is Charlotte’s 56th homicide this year.
