CMPD Is Investigating Charlotte’s 58th Homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in Grier Heights.

The call for service came in around 11:00 a.m Saturday morning on the 1300 block of Grierton Court.

CMPD responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call, upon arrival they located a male victim on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police said this victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center by Medic with non-life threatening injuries.

A second male victim was located on the front porch of an apartment where he was pronounced deceased by Medic.

CMPD has identified the second victim as 22-year-old Washington Herman Ryles.

Detectives believe that the victims and the suspect knew each other.

This will be the 58th homicide in Charlotte this year.
