3 Things You Need to Know Before the Eclipse

CHARLOTTE, NC – We’re just hours from a once in a lifetime event. Eyes across the nation will be on the sky, for a coast to coast total solar eclipse that will turn day into night.

Here are three things you need to know before the eclipse:

1. Expect lots of traffic. Two million plus people are expected to pass through our area on the way to the total eclipse zone in South Carolina or Western North Carolina. That means you could even see an impact on your morning commute or on the drive home.

2. Decide now where you plan to watch, so you don’t get stuck looking for a place at the last minute. The eclipse will happen around 1pm until 4pm, with 98 percent of the son covered in Charlotte around 2:41pm. Some places like Sycamore Brewing will host watch parties.

3. Make sure you have the eclipse glasses. Sunglasses aren’t good enough! Looking at the sun without a pair of approved eclipse glasses can cause permanent damage.
