Gastonia Child In Critical Condition After Being Found Hanging In A Closet

GASTONIA, NC — Police say a 6-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was found hanging and unconscious in a closet Wednesday morning.

According to police, the incident appears to be an accident. Officials say the girl was playing in the closet and got hung-up on something that strangled her.

The girl was taken to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte for treatment. Officials say she is in critical condition, but does seem to be recovering.

The investigation is ongoing.
