Drivers Could Face Hefty Fines For Not Obeying School Zones

CHARLOTTE, NC — Kid’s will be heading back to school Monday, and CMPD is warning drivers about the consequences of not obeying school zone traffic laws.

CMPD says extra officers will be on patrol and warnings will NOT be given. Drivers caught speeding in a school zone will face a $238 fine with three points on your license. Pass a stopped school bus and that’s a $500 fine with five points on your license.

Police also want parents to talk with their kids about safety in crossing zones when walking to school.
