Gas Prices Could Spike Due To Hurricane Harvey

CHARLOTTE, NC — As Hurricane Harvey prepares to make landfall in Texas, officials say don’t be surprised if you see a spike in gas prices at the pump.

AAA told WCCB Charlotte Friday, while it’s too early to know the exact impact, there could be a 10 to 15 cent increase because of supply issues. Drivers are also being warned not to panic however, and not to rush out to fill up every gas container they have.

If gas prices do spike, AAA says it will be a temporary spike and won’t last long.
