EDGE On The Clock: Miss UK Gives Up Her Crown

CHARLOTTE, NC — A beauty pageant winner in the United Kingdom is giving back her crown.

Miss UK Zoiey Smale has withdrawn from next month’s Miss United Continents Pageant. Smale, who is a size 10, says organizers asked her to lose as much weight as possible.

In a Facebook post she wrote, “It saddens me that there are pageant directors who believe you must be skinny to be beautiful.”
