One Adult, 2 Children Rescued After Vehicle Plunges 40 Feet Off Bridge Near Myrtle Beach

CONWAY, SC — Rescuers say three patients have been transported after a vehicle plunged roughly 40 feet off of a bridge into the Waccamaw River near Myrtle Beach Monday.

Officials say the vehicle went through a concrete barrier on the 501 bridge around 11am and landed on its roof in a marshy area. It took about an hour and a half to get one adult and two children from the vehicle, rescuers say.

One child was transported by helicopter, according to reports, while the other two victims were transported by ambulance. Officials say the victims were all transported in critical condition.

No word on what led to the accident.
