President Trump is expected to scrap an Obama era program that allows nearly 800,000 dreamers or undocumented immigrants to work and study in the U.S.
We did some checking. In all, nearly 800,000 people brought to America as children, benefit from the deferred action for childhood arrivals programs.
27,000 people in North Carolina qualify for the program. 5,000 of them are in Mecklenburg County.
So there are people who argue that ending DACA could get rid of the job competition for American workers. Others points out that those Dreamers don’t receive government benefits of any sort. But deporting them will cost tax payers billions of dollars… so what happens if President Trump ends DACA?
