Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Nursing Home Patients
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD’s Sexual Assault Unit has charged Alphonzo Dawkins, for his involvement in the sexual assault of two victims.
On Thursday, August 31, 2017, at approximately 11:41 p.m., Officers responded to the 1700 block of Toddville Road at Charlotte Health and Rehab Center in reference to a possible sexual assault. Upon arrival, they were advised that an unknown male subject was in the victim’s room and stated he was a family member.
The male fled the center; however, a witness was able to call 911 and describe the suspect vehicle.
On Friday, September 1, 2017 at 2:40 a.m., Independence Division Officers received a sexual assault call for service in the 5900 block of Redmann Road at the Brian Center Health and Rehab. Upon arrival, the victim advised officers that she was asleep when she was awoken by an unknown male in bed with her. The suspect described matched the description of the suspect in the incident that occurred on Toddville Road.
Information and evidence gathered by detectives during the investigation led to them identifying Dawkins as a suspect in these cases. Sexual Assault Detectives interviewed Dawkins, who confessed to being involved in both cases. Dawkins was subsequently transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently in custody. He has been charged with three counts of 2nd Degree Sex Offense and two counts of 1st Degree Breaking and Entering.
