Novant Health House Call: Morning Sickness

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kate Middleton has been diagnosed with a severe form of morning sickness known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum (GS). For women with this condition, the nausea and vomiting can be so severe that it starts to cause complications such as dehydration, an imbalance of the body’s salts, and potentially dangerous weight loss.

The chances of developing this disease for most women is less than 1 percent, but if you suffered with it in a previous pregnancy, you are likely to experience it again. Here with us this morning to talk about this condition is Dr. Lisa Wilson, an OB/GYN with Novant Health.
