Florida Evacuee Missing In Lancaster County Found Safe

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says Mr. DePasquale was found Thursday night and is safe.

LANCASTER COUNTY, SC — Deputies need help finding a 77-year-old man who went missing after trying to escape Hurricane Irma.

John DePasquale is a Florida resident who came to Lancaster County with his wife in order to escape the coming hurricane. Officials say he was last seen around 3:30pm Thursday at a relative’s home on Truman Drive, Sun City, in Indian Land.

According to deputies, DePasquale has dementia and requires several medications which he does not have with him. Deputies say he made a statement saying he intended to go to Connecticut, where he formerly resided.

DePasquale is described as a white male, six feet tall, 240 pounds, bald, no facial hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing gray shorts, a gray golf shirt, and white tennis shoes.

Deputies say he was driving a silver 2017 Toyota Highlander, like the one pictured above, with Florida license pplate Y4VMQ.
