A New CMPD Program Aims To Prevent Violence
CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is working with local groups on a new initiative to cut down on violent crime.
The department hosted a meeting this morning at the Sugar Creek Recreation Center to announce the community empowerment program. As part of the initiative Chief Kerr Putney asked Major Freda Lester to help find ways to stabilize families to prevent future crime.
CMPD says local organizations will control the initiative, and officers will go to monthly meetings to talk about the progress.
It is set to launch in Hidden Valley.
