ALBEMARLE, N.C. — The Albemarle Police Department is teaming with Stanly County Crime Stoppers to offer a reward in the search for Mondrell Leake’s killer continues.
Officials say a $2,000 reward is being offered to any person with information that leads up to an arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
Authorities were called to a disturbance around 12:54 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22nd at N. Seventh Street between East Main Street and Pee Dee Avenue. Officers found Mondrell Leake lying shot in the road. After attempts to save him, Leakes was pronounced dead on the scene.
Officers are searching for a red car, Honda or Acura, and a man who was wearing all black. Police say this suspect was seen leaving the crime scene.
Neighbors report that they hearing loud talking and several gunshots before calling 911.
