CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say the suspect and victim knew one another in Tuesday morning’s Rosetta Street homicide.
Accoridng to police, Montavious Berry and Derrick Banner knew each other and had communicated several times prior to the murder. Investigators say there is no information or evidence that suggests Banner was killed based on his gender identity, despite several claims.
Berry was arrested on September 12th, around 11 pm. Following an interview with detectives, he was charged with Murder, Armed Robbery and Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle.
Police found Derrick Lee Banner inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound around 3am Tuesday. Medic pronounced him dead on the scene.
Homicide Detectives are still investigating the incident.
