New U.S. Citizens Naturalized in Honor of Constitution Week

CHARLOTTE, NC — 25 people are celebrating their first night as U.S. citizens. They were naturalized Friday at the Levine Museum of the New South in honor of Constitution Week.

One new citizen, a Brazilian immigrant, has been in the United States since she was eight years old.

“When you move to the United States at such an early age because your parents came, that is now your home,” said Amanda Godette. “I considered myself an American citizen before I received this piece of paper.”

More than 30,000 new citizens will be naturalized next week, in celebration of Constitution Week.
