When Is It Ok To Lie To Your Kids?
Actress Kristen Bell says when it comes to her kids, honesty is the best policy. While promoting the movie Bad Moms 2, Bell said she isn’t encouraging her children to believe in Santa Claus.
The actress told the Today Show, “We have to tell our kid that one night a year breaking and entering is okay and that a dude in a jumpsuit is going to come down the chimney and is going to rifle through our stuff, but itβs okay because heβs going to leave us gifts? Thatβs a crazy story to tell your child.β
Experts say there are times when telling your child a lie is harmless. Β Social lies, like the existence of Santa, or tall tales can inspire a child’s imagination.
But lies to avoid a serious subject can be harmful and deprive a child of learning an important life-lesson. So what do you think?
