Former CMS Substitute Teacher Facing Additional Charges of Sexual Misconduct

CHARLOTTE, NC — More students have come forward accusing a former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools substitute teacher of sexual misconduct.

31-year-old Lamont Barrett is accused of having inappropriate contact with several male students and a female student who are between the ages of 16 and 18-years-old. Β Barrett is now facing eight additional counts of indecent liberties with a student and one count of disseminating obscene material. Police had already charged Barrett with seven counts of indecent liberties with a student.

Police say the new charges stem from activity that occurred on campus, near the end of the last school year as well as from activities that happened off campus.

CMS fired him from Rocky River High School on Β September 14th. This is at least the fifth school employee in our area facing sex charges with a student this year.
