Belmont Police Investigating Armed Robbery

BELMONT, NC — Police are investigating after someone robbed the Park Street Family Dollar at gunpoint Friday.

Just before 6pm, police say a black male went to the register and demanded money. Investigators say no gun was actually displayed during the robbery, but the suspect placed his hand under his shirt and implied that he did have a weapon.

The suspect left and went to the back of the building where police say they believe he was picked up by a champagne colored SUV or van waiting nearby.

He is described as being in his 20s to 30s, around 6’1″, 150-160 lbs, and wearing khaki pants, a black t-shirt, and a green reflective safety vest. Police say his hair was also described as being un-kept and sticking out around two to three inches from a black hat being worn.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. JB Davis at 704-829-4037.
