Four Suspects Charged In Overnight Vehicle Break-Ins

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has charged four suspects for vehicle break-ins that happened overnight in southwest Charlotte.

Around 11:30pm Thursday night a witness reported several suspects breaking into vehicles at an apartment complex on Cormwell Lane. When officers arrived they found Demarco Blair, 28, Hakeem Dickens, 25, and Janay Kirksey, 16, matching the witness description of the suspects and suspect vehicle.

Blair and Dickens were each charged with six counts of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. Kirksey was charged with Possession of Stolen Goods and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

On Friday, around 2:47am, police were called to Sharview Circle where a witness had reported someone breaking into her vehicle. Officials say the victim heard her car alarm going off and looked out to see Malik White, 19, standing at her vehicle with the door open. According to a report, when she banged on the window Malik took off on foot.

Malik was soon located and charged with Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle.

  • Always lock your doors and roll up your windows
  • Never leave valuable items in your vehicle
  • Store packages in the trunk of your vehicle while shopping
  • Remove items such as telephones, iPods, purses, briefcase, backpack, cash and even loose change each time you leave your vehicle.
  • Park in well-lit areas at night
  • Park vehicle in the driveway rather than the street
  • Consider a car alarm for added protection
  • Call 911 if you see any suspicious activity
