Suspect Faces Multiple Charges After Shooting A Victim During An Armed Robbery, Holding Others Hostage

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are investigating after one person was shot during an armed robbery in east Charlotte.

The shooting happened shortly after 6:30pm inside an apartment on Farm Pond Lane. Police say Anson Carter, 39, shot one victim in the foot and then robbed everyone inside the apartment. During the robbery, police also say Carter fired multiple shots, which entered another apartment, and held the victims hostage inside.

Police say Carter has been arrested and is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Discharging a Firearm Into Occupied Property, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Serious Injury, 2nd Degree Kidnapping, and three counts of Assault by Pointing a Gun.
