3 Charged, Person Of Interest Still Wanted After Shots Fired On Gardner-Webb Campus
UPDATE: Gardner-Webb University released the following statement regarding the shooting on campus Wednesday:
BOILING SPRINGS, NC — Gardner-Webb officials say the campus is secure and all students are safe after shots were fired Wednesday evening.
Officials say no one was injured and and three suspects have already been charged. The campus lock down was lifted around 9:40pm after students had been told to stay indoors.
Drew Harkins, Randolph Gilcrest, and Ditarius Harris have all been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling and Discharging a Firearm on Educational Property.
Campus police say suspects in a car fired shots into another car around 6:30pm near the Campus Commons Apartments building G on Stadium Drive.
Police say they’re still looking for another person of interest, but believe he no longer on campus. The investigation is ongoing.
