CHARlOTTE, N.C. — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Providence Division have charged Courtney Mills for his involvement in several larceny cases.
On October 02, 2017, at 1:35 a.m., Providence Division patrol officers responded to an alarm call in the 600 block of Cherokee Road. While on scene, officers heard noises down the street that sounded like car doors and went to investigate, observing a male walking with a black backpack. After speaking with officers, the subject was released.
A short time later, officers found a vehicle that had been entered on Cherokee Road and another vehicle on Huntley Place. Officers determined that both of the vehicles had been left unlocked.
Officers immediately made contact again with the male and, after further investigating, it was determined that he provided officers with a fictitious name and was correctly identified as Courtney Mills.
Officers confirmed that Mills had eight outstanding warrants for larceny from vehicles and placed him under arrest. Mills was transported to the Providence Division team office where he was interviewed by division detectives.
At the conclusion of the interview, Mills was charged with two counts of Larceny from Motor Vehicle, two counts of Misdemeanor Larceny and served the outstanding warrants at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
