Cam Newton Apologizes For Sexist Response To Reporter

Cam’s mea culpa. The superstar athlete posts an apology to women all around the world.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton says he’s sorry for his sexist response to a reporter’s question.
His comments kicked off a firestorm and Thursday night Cam posted an apology video to Twitter.
In the video, Cam says, “After careful thought, I understand that my word choice was extremely degrading and disrespectful to women.
And to be honest, that was not my intention. If you are a person who took offense to what I said, I sincerely apologize to you.”
He also says what he did was extremely unacceptable.

Thursday brought new developments on the Jourdan Rodrigue side of this story.
She’s the reporter whose questions prompted Cam’s comments.
Old tweets of hers have surfaced from four or five years ago that are racist.
In one from 2013, she appears to quote a parody account tweet that includes the n-word.
In two others from 2012 and 2013, she talks about her dad being “super racist” and about making “racist jokes.”
Rodrigue issued a statement saying in part: “There is no excuse for these tweets and the sentiment behind them… I am deeply sorry and apologize.”
