Pineville Bridge Named For Fallen Firefighter

PINEVILLE, N.C. — A Pineville bridge has been named after volunteer firefighter Richard Sheltra, who died in the line duty.

The North Carolina Board of Transportation says the bridge over Little Sugar Creek on South Polk Street in Pineville is now the Richard Sheltra Bridge.

Sheltra was just 20-years-old when he died from smoke inhalation, while fighting a three-alarm fire at Edwin Watts Golf, in Pineville in April of 2016.
