CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD says seven people were injured Tuesday afternoon when a daycare van collided with another vehicle in east Charlotte and flipped.
The accident happened just after 2pm on N. Sharon Amity Road at Shamrock Drive. The owner of ‘Our Neighborhood Learning Center,’ Jamie Sipe, says six children, ages 4-6, were onboard the daycare van when the accident happened.
Students and witnesses told Sipe the other car involved ran the red light and t-boned the van, causing it to flip onto its side.
The children were transported with minor injuries, treated, and released, according to Sipe. She says the driver is being treated for a broken arm and other injuries.
The van was headed to a Pre-K program at Bethlehem Care for afterschool care.
