Couch Chat: Is Charlotte Ready For Amazon?

The Queen City has hours left to convince Amazon to bring it’s second headquarters here. Amazon is promising a 5 Billion dollar investment and 50,000 high paying jobs over the next 15 years.

The city Amazon picks would likely be the next ‘tech hub’ and change the economy.

Most states are offering a generous tax break… like New Jersey, with a 7 Billion dollar offer. Critics say, having Amazon come to a city will raise taxes and real estate prices. They also say this is all creating a major distraction from what real day to day economic development should be.

Charlotte has launched it’s own campaign to try and lure in Amazon. Is Amazon’s second headquarters worth it?
