Second Suspect Arrested In Plaza Midwood Shootout

Police say they have now arrested both of the men involved in a shootout at a Charlotte gas station, in which a bullet struck a school bus.
The CMPD says Nelson Handy III and Jimmy Alexander have been arrested and charged in the shooting.Β Handy was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Driving While License Revoked, Reckless Driving, Failing to Heed Emergency Light and Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement.Β Β Authorities will also serve twenty warrants forΒ Shooting Into Occupied Property.
Alexander has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and discharge a weapon into occupied property.
Police released surveillance video from the shoot out that happened in Plaza Midwood Thursday morning.Β One of the spray bullets struck a school bus that was nearby.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are searching for two people in connection with a shooting that occurred in the Plaza Midwood area of east Charlotte.
According to CMPD, one of the bullets struck the window of a charter school bus. However, the bus was not a target.
Instead, the incident was the result of two individuals firing at each other at a convenience store near Parkwood Avenue and The Plaza.
Police say 19 students were onboard the bus from Charlotte Lab Charter School but none of the students were injured.Β The bus driver was treated for minor injuries from broken glass.
A second vehicle also had damage from gunfire but that driver was not injured.Β Anyone with witnessed the shooting or that might have information on the subjects involved are asked to 911.
