Cam Newton Walks Out Of News Conference
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is being called out for a press conference where he responded to reporters with eye rolls.
He then refused to answer a seemingly routine question from the Charlotte Observer’s Joe Person and abruptly walked out with no explanation.
A team spokesperson released this statement: βCam didnβt intend to be discourteous toward any specific media member. In his mind, after answering questions for nine minutes, he had fulfilled his obligations.β
This comes just three weeks after Cam’s sexist response to the Observer’s Jordan Rodrigue sparked a national firestorm.
Cam’s comment cost him a major endorsement deal with Dannon Oikos yogurt.
A day after making that comment, he issued a public apology in a video posted to Twitter that was well received.
He called his choice of words ‘extremely degrading’ and ‘disrespectful to women.’
But, then Cam failed to show up for his league-mandated media availability all last week.
Whether he’ll be disciplined by the NFL or the Panthers organization remains unclear.
