ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities have identified a worker who was killed by a falling tree early Monday morning in Alexander County.
Brian Keith Wilmoth, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene after a tree he was cutting with a chainsaw fell on him.
According to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurredΒ around 4:15 a.m., at the intersection of Dover Church Road and Mountain Ridge Road in the Ellendale Community of Alexander County.
Mr. Wilmoth was an employee of the Asplundh Company working on power restoration following storms in the area.Β Β Investigators believeΒ Mr. Wilmoth was attempting to remove a tree from a power line, and the power lines threw the tree back on to him as he cut it into two pieces.
The accident is still under investigation.
