CMPD And QuikTrip Establish Exchange Zones After Baseball Player Shot And Killed
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The CMPD is partnering with QuikTrip to establish safe zones for people to complete transactions initiated online.
The creation of the safe zones follow the death of 21-year-old Zachary Finch, who was shot and killed after meeting to buy a phone he agreed to purchase through LetGo, an app similar to Craigslist.
Finch was a baseball player at the University of Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Participating QuikTrip convenience stores will designate two parking spaces identified as safe zones for shoppers to exchange items. The zones will be monitored by 24-hour surveillance cameras and checked by officers periodically.
Safe Zones have been established at the following QuikTrip locations.
