LENOIR, NC — Deputies have charged the suspect wanted for a shooting Wednesday night on Highway 268.
Steven Smith, 29, was arrested during a traffic stop on Creekway Drive around midnight. Officials say Smith was wanted in connection to a shooting that happened in a parking lot around 7:52pm.
According to reports, the victim was found with a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was treated and released at CMC in Charlotte. Smith was located after deputies were told he was seen leaving the scene in a silver Toyota Avalon.
Smith is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and was also served an outstanding warrant for Domestic Criminal Trespass. His bond has been set at $250,000.
