Threat Forces 8 Cabarrus County Schools To Dismiss Early As A Precaution
CABARRUS COUNTY, NC — We now know the FBI is involved in the investigation in Cabarrus County, where eight schools sent kids home early as a precaution.
Parents of Cabarrus County High School students received a text message from the school system and then a call from their kids to pick them up early.
Concord police say they received an anonymous threat targeting Cabarrus County High Schools.
Police say the threat “did not appear credible,” but did have enough detail to warrant the early dismissal of all Cabarrus County high schools.
Law enforcement officials have so far declined to provide details about the threat, other than to say it referenced “explosive devices.”
J.N. Fries Middle School was also dismissed as a precaution because it shares a campus with a high school.
Hazmat teams searched the schools but didn’t find any evidence in relation to the threat.
Students tell WCCB they didn’t know what was going on, and were moved from the side of the school to the football field.
Parents tells us they appreciate the school district’s proactive steps.
The students won’t be back tomorrow because of the Veteran’s Day holiday.
