CONCORD, NC– “You could just hear everyone talking about it when you’re walking down the hallways,” said Cox Mill High School Freshman, Julia Foster.

Cox Mill High School students say the school was buzzing all day about a 17-year old male student and former science teacher, 23- year old Katherine Ross Ridenhour.  Concord Police say she’s charged with two counts Indecent Liberties With a Student while she was teaching at Cox Mill.

“Mostly just shock really most people didn’t really, well kinda like me I had no idea who this teacher was but I knew who this student was,” said one student.

Police say they received a tip that Ridenhour was having a potential inappropriate consensual relationship with the 17- year old student.

“It’s so unexpected it’s just crazy to think this happened at our school that we’re going to,” said Foster.

Police say their investigation confirmed the two counts happened on school campus between October 1st and November 13th. Parents reacted to the news.

“It’s wrong, both parties knew it’s wrong and both parties should be accountable,” said parent, Jennifer Foster.

Cabarrus County Schools tells WCCB the married 23-year old has since resigned after working for the district since August of 2016.
Parents say they will be having a talk with their teenaged kids since this happened.

“It really bothers me I don’t know how to address this issue as a parent it’s a very difficult conversation to have but we have to have it,” said parent, Emmanuel Sowah.
