Teens Arrested For Iredell County Vehicle Break-Ins

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Three teens have been arrested in connection with a series of car break-ins in Iredell County.

On Sunday, November 5th, deputies responded to reports of car break-ins in near Hickory Highway and Ashbrook Drive in Iredell County.

On Friday, November 10th, around 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to more break-ins in the area of Bethlehem Road near the Statesville Airport.  Deputies set up a perimeter and cornered the suspects in a wooded area.

Three teens were caught and others may have eluded arrest.  Two of the arrested suspects were juveniles.

The third suspect has been identified as 16-year-old Aaron Dequan Whitmore.  He has been charged with 55 counts of Felony Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle, 4 counts of
Larceny of Firearm, and 12 counts of Misdemeanor Larceny.

Officials are seeking similar charges against the juveniles.

An investigation determined the same group of people were responsible for the crimes on both days.

The teens targeted unlocked vehicles in random housing developments according to authorities.  The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community to lock their vehicles and keep valuable out of sight.
