Holiday Happenings with Moira Quinn

CHARLOTTE, NC — From the arts, to live music, to pop-up shops … Charlotte has a lot of Holiday events happening this weekend.

Moira Quinn from Charlotte Center City Partners stopped by to chat with the couch crew about what to see and do.

 

OPEN HOUSE: Art, Food, and Conversations about Gentrification
WHAT: A visual, culinary, and performance art show entitled Open House will explore the topic of
gentrification in the Charlotte area.
WHERE: Wadsworth Estate 400 S. Summit Ave.
WHEN: Two shows on November 30, 4-6 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
COST: Tickets are $50 here
Justice Creative Zanelle Dunlap and The Yolk Cafe co-owner Chef Greg Collier will come together to present satirical commentary about gentrification in the Charlotte area in a visual, culinary, and performance art show entitled Open House on Thursday, November 30. Two Open House shows have been scheduled at the Wadsworth Estate at 400 S. Summit Ave.  Shows are scheduled for 4pm and 6pm.

 

Poptopia Holidays: A Holiday Pop-Up Shop
November 28 – December 2
Sonia & Isaac Luski Gallery at Foundation for the Carolinas
This annual, Uptown pop-up shopping experience is held inside the Foundation for the Carolinas’ beautiful Sonia and Isaac Luski Gallery and offers Charlotteans a chance to shop with over 20 local retailers and makers. Lights on the Square: Uptown Tree Lighting
November 30, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The Square at Trade & Tryon
Starting at 5:30 p.m. there will be live performances from the JBP Entertainment dancers, Lil Misfit dance group, Hawthorne United Methodist Church Bell Choir and Hough High School chorus. At 6:30p.m., with the help of ACC sports mascots, Santa will light the tree. After the tree lighting, Santa will move across the Square to Polk Park to listen to Christmas wishes and sit for photographs with children until 8 p.m.

 

Uptown Crawl
Thursday, November 30, 6-9 p.m.
Tryon Street corridor
Discover Uptown’s culture for free during the Uptown Crawl. The crawl features Uptown art galleries and museums with free trolley rides between each exhibit. Live music will be included with this edition of the Uptown Crawl as a part of Music Everywhere. The crawl starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m., and features free admission to galleries and museums along the Tryon Street corridor. The crawl is open to art lovers of all ages and attracts guests from all over the greater Charlotte region.
