Residents Unhappy With New Development Proposal In Ballantyne Area

CHARLOTTE, NC — Some neighbors are not happy about plans to bring nearly 250 new homes and town homes to Ballantyne.

The proposed development would be built on nearly 40 acres across from Ardrey Kell High School. The land is already zoned for residential use, but the developer is asking for rezoning to put more homes per acre than what’s already allowed.

Residents packed into a public meeting Wednesday night at South Meck Presbyterian Church and voiced their concerns. The developers say they are taking those concerns into consideration.

There’s no word on when the City Council will make a decision on the rezoning request.
